Budget Work Session Meeting

Roll Call – Councilor Jacobs, McNabb, Hunter, Dempsey, Mayor Lattimore - Present.

City Staff Present – John Salomone, City Manager; Tom Leone, Corporation Counsel; Debra McCormick, City Clerk; Police Chief Gary Giannotta; Lisa Green, Assistant Comptroller; Bea O’Hora, Comptroller

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

Councilor Dempsey asked that Council observe a moment of silence in honor of the men and women of the Armed Forces.

Presentations and Proclamations –
The City Clerk read a proclamation from the Mayor proclaiming May as Community Action Month in the City of Auburn.  Toni Daley, representing the Cayuga Seneca Community Action Agency accepted the proclamation and thanked Council.

The City Clerk read a memoriam in honor of Domincik A. Bellerdine, former Auburn Firefighter who passed away this week.

Public Announcements – Clerk read.

Presentation of Petitions and Communication – Clerk read.

Ordinances and Local Laws – None

Councilor Dempsey asked if the Public to be Heard can be moved up on the agenda to accommodate citizens that need to leave.  All agreed.

Fonda Krontz, 262 West Genesee St., owner of Ricky’s Restaurant spoke to Council about the affects the road construction is having on his business.  He was told by Mother’s Day it would be completed and it is not.  He reported it will have a negative impact on his Mother’s Day business.

Mayor Lattimore and City Manager Salomone respond.

Work Session –




Budget Work Session
        Municipal Utilities – Frank DeOrio, Director of Municipal Utilities, Lisa Greene, Assistant Comptroller, presented a power point presentation on Pay as You Throw Trash Collection.  They distributed a handout with the presentation notes included.  Council discussed.

Other Business –  
Councilor Jacobs reported that he met with Judge McKeon and Chief Giannotta regarding parking ticket fine collections.  They have worked out the procedures that need to be in place to collect the over due fines.  

Mayor Lattimore proposed that two hour free parking be abolished.  Council briefly discussed downtown parking issues.

Council adjourned to Executive Session at 7:50PM and returned at 8:45PM
